Kyle Chandler jokes he doesn't trust 'Lanterns' costar Aaron Pierre

Kyle Chandler and Aaron Pierre proved their off-screen chemistry is just as entertaining as their on-screen partnership, exchanging playful jabs while promoting HBO's upcoming DC series Lanterns at Entertainment Weekly's 2026 San Diego Comic-Con studio.

The actors, who portray Hal Jordan and John Stewart, teased each other throughout separate interviews, leaving no doubt about their close friendship.

Chandler refuses to answer Pierre's 'trick question'

During his interview, Pierre complimented Chandler's outfit before asking where he bought his shirt.

When the question was later put to Chandler, he jokingly refused to answer.

"I'm not going to answer that because it's a trick question, somehow. I don't trust him."

Chandler then joked that the shirt was made by "a couple brothers," without revealing the brand.

The co-stars roast each other

The Friday Night Lights actor continued the playful ribbing by claiming Pierre liked to "hurt" his feelings.

He jokingly described his co-star as "not a very nice person" before adding that Pierre may look "big" and "handsome," but was actually "rather selfish and small."

Pierre quickly laughed off the remarks and returned the favour.

"That's my boy!"

The actor said working with Chandler had been "extremely fruitful" and praised whoever paired them together for the HBO series.

Chemistry carries into Lanterns

Earlier this month, the actors revealed they drew inspiration from legendary comedy duo Abbott and Costello while developing the dynamic between Hal Jordan and John Stewart.

Pierre said they enjoy surprising each other during scenes while always staying true to the story, while Chandler added that their approach allows both actors to push one another without letting the other "hit the ground."

Lanterns is set to premiere on HBO on August 16.
