John Cena and Jessica Biel team up in first 'Matchbox the Movie' trailer
'Matchbox the Movie' is set to begin streaming on Apple TV on October 9
John Cena and Jessica Biel are gearing up for a high-stakes adventure as Apple TV has unveiled the first trailer for Matchbox the Movie, an action-comedy inspired by Mattel's iconic toy vehicle brand.
Released during San Diego Comic-Con, the trailer marks Biel's return to the big screen for the first time in nine years.
The actress stars alongside Cena, Arturo Castro, Sam Richardson, Danai Gurira and Teyonah Parris.
The film follows Sean, an undercover CIA agent played by Cena, who returns to his hometown to reconnect with childhood friends.
Their reunion quickly takes an unexpected turn when the group is kidnapped by CIA operatives who mistakenly believe they have stolen a nuclear warhead.
Forced into a dangerous international mission, the friends embark on a globe-spanning race to recover the missing weapon and clear their names before it's too late.
Inspired by the beloved Matchbox toy line, the film blends action, comedy and nostalgia while turning a childhood pastime into a worldwide espionage adventure.
Matchbox the Movie also features Corey Stoll, Bill Camp and Golshifteh Farahani in supporting roles.
The film is directed by Extraction filmmaker Sam Hargrave from a screenplay by The Family Plan writer David Coggeshall.
For Biel, the project marks her first feature film since 2017's Shock and Awe. In recent years, she has focused on television, starring in series including Candy and The Better Sister. Cena, meanwhile, recently appeared in the Netflix comedy Little Brother.
Matchbox the Movie is set to begin streaming on Apple TV on Oct. 9.
