'Superman: Legacy' finds David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan as Clark Kent and Lois Lane
'Superman: Legacy' is scheduled to release on July 11, 2025, with filming expected to begin early next year

James Gunn's highly anticipated film, Superman: Legacy, has found David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan to portray the iconic lead characters of Clark Kent and Lois Lane, respectively.
The film will serve as the launchpad for DC's new universe under the direction of Gunn and Peter Safran, who are also the co-bosses of studios.
Over the years, only three actors have portrayed Superman on the big screen. Christopher Reeve's portrayal in the 1978 film Superman launched the modern superhero genre, while Brandon Routh's appearance in 2006's Superman Returns was a one-time endeavor.
In 2013, Henry Cavill took on the role in Zack Snyder's Man of Steel, which kicked off the DC Extended Universe.
Superman: Legacy is scheduled to release on July 11, 2025, with filming expected to begin early next year.
As the casting search continues, attention now turns to characters like Lex Luthor and the superhero team The Authority, who are set to make their debut in Legacy before potentially headlining their own film.
This film marks a significant milestone in Corenswet's career, as he takes on the lead role in a major studio production for the first time.
Previously known for his performances in Ryan Murphy's The Politician and the Netflix series Hollywood, Corenswet's star is on the rise.
He also has upcoming projects, including the Apple series Lady in the Lake and the sequel to the horror film Twister.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Gunn has expressed his deep connection to Superman, highlighting the character's sense of being both an outsider and an ultimate insider.
He said, "I completely relate to Superman because he’s everything I am, He’s somebody who is an outsider who feels like an alien, but also the ultimate insider, because he’s fucking Superman. And that’s kind of like what I feel like."
