Dwyane Wade expresses gratitude as Allen Iverson presents him at Hall of Fame induction

NBA great Dwyane Wade is gearing up for a momentous occasion as he prepares for his induction into the Hall of Fame.

The former Miami Heat star, known for his extraordinary basketball skills and impactful career, is set to receive a unique honor: he will be presented by none other than his idol and fellow basketball legend, Allen Iverson.

In an interview with PEOPLE, Wade expressed his profound gratitude for the privilege of having Iverson as his presenter.

He described Iverson's influence on his life and career as monumental, highlighting the significance of wearing the number three jersey due to Iverson's inspiration.

Wade said, "No one has been able to use [Iverson] yet, and that I'm the first one to be able to say Allen Iverson has presented me into the Hall of Fame...that right there, if you tell 17-year-old Dwyane that, I wouldn't believe you."

"It means everything to me, I wear the number three jersey because of Allen Iverson and just have so much respect for that man." he added.

The upcoming Hall of Fame ceremony, scheduled for Saturday, will mark a poignant moment for Wade. 

He emphasized the depth of his appreciation for being the first to have Iverson present him into the esteemed Hall of Fame, underscoring the impact of this achievement on his personal journey.

He expressed his desire to pay tribute to Iverson's influence, stating, "I just feel like AI is a culture. I come from the culture, and I want to give flowers and respect to someone who meant so much to my career."

While Wade initially considered other options for his presenter, including Udonis Haslem, his profound connection with Iverson prevailed.
