Ayo Edebiri confesses mocking Jennifer Lopez on 'SNL' : 'I was 24 and stupid'
Ayo Edebiri hosted the latest episode of 'Saturday Night Live' on February 3, 2024
Ayo Edebiri, who hosted Saturday Night Live’s latest episode, accepted that she made jokes in the past about Jennifer Lopez.
During the episode, one of Saturday Night Live or SNL’s comedic skit was a game show sketch where the segment’s host, Kenan Thompson forced its contestants to acknowledge their shrude social media comments and responses.
Edebiri responded to one of her recently resurfaced comments, saying, “Okay. We get it. It’s wrong to leave mean comments, or post comments just for clout, or run your mouth on a podcast, and you don’t consider the impact because you’re 24 and stupid.”
To the audience’s delight, she continued, “But I think I speak for everyone when I say from now on, we’re going to be a lot more thoughtful about what we post online.”

For context of the referred comment, the 28-year-old actress was featured back in 2020, on an episode of Scam Goddess, where the host, Laci Mosley, passed a comment saying that Lopez’s “whole career is one long scam” and that the All I Have singer is unaware of the critiques that people have for her.
To this, Edebiri said, “Well, that’s the thing — she thinks she’s on multiple tracks, but it’s not her. I think she thinks that she’s still good, even though she’s not singing for most of these songs.”
“A lot of the write-ups of the songs will be like, ‘J.Lo didn’t have time to make it to the studio. Like, ‘J.Lo was busy.’ Doing what? Not singing, obviously,” she added.
Jennifer Lopez, who was a musical guest on the episode, did not appear in that sketch of SNL however, she did stand alongside Edebiri in a promo followed by the release of the episode.
“I love your show,” Lopez exclaimed to which Edebiri responded, “I love your everything.”
