'Step Up 2' choreographer Dave Scott dies at 52

Dave Scott, best known for his choreography in Step Up 2, You Got Served, and So You Think You Can Dance, has suddenly passed away on Monday, June 16, at the age of 52.

The confirmation of his death was made via an Instagram post on his personal account. However, the cause of his death has not yet been disclosed.

"Today we have lost an icon, a legend, a father and a dear friend," the post read.

The obituary continued, "The weight of this loss will send ripples through time. But his memory and legacy will continue to live on. We love you Dave Scott and everything you’ve accomplished and the joy and comfort you’ve brought to people will never be forgotten."

The post featured a carousel capturing Scott’s sweet throwback clips.

"Everyone is invited to share this post and let it reach everyone around the world. Show your love and support for this amazing individual and share the footprint he has left on this earth," the statement concluded.

Born on August 15, 1972, Scott initially attended Weber State University in Ogden, Utah, on a basketball scholarship and received an Associate's Degree in business, according to The New York Post.

It is worth noting that Dave Scott decided to pursue his passion for choreography after being inspired by Michael Jackson and the films, Beat Street and Breakin'.
