Queen Elizabeth II grew deeply concerned about Prince Harry’s relationship with Meghan Markle shortly before their 2018 wedding, fearing her grandson was “besotted and weak,” royal biographer Sally Bedell Smith has claimed.

Writing on her Substack ‘Royal Extras’ on Sunday, Smith revealed that Harry allegedly upset the late monarch during a February 2018 meeting about the wedding.

According to Smith, Prince Harry was “rude” to his grandmother for about 10 minutes, leaving the Queen “very worried” about him.

The Queen, who died in 2022 aged 96, was reportedly dismayed that Prince Harry asked the Archbishop of Canterbury to conduct the ceremony at St. George’s Chapel without first seeking approval from the Dean of Windsor.

Smith reportedly received her intel via a phone call from Elizabeth’s late cousin, Lady Elizabeth Anson, ahead of her 2020 death.

Despite the tensions, the Queen and Harry reportedly ‘patched things up’ by April 2018, ahead of his wedding to Meghan.

Prince Harry has not yet publicly responded to the claims.

Prince Harry and Meghan stepped down as working royals in 2020 and relocated to Montecito, California, where they now live with their son Archie, 6, and daughter Lilibet, 4.
