Cardi B has faced a major setback, as she has been hit with a lawsuit for alleged assault and battery by a woman who attended one of her concerts in 2023.

The 32-year-old American rapper reportedly threw a microphone at a woman, identified as Jane Doe, during a party at Drai's Beachclub in Las Vegas on July 29, 2023.

Nearly two years since the infamous incident, the Ohio-based accuser has filed a lawsuit against Cardi.

According to a complaint filed in the Eighth Judicial Court in Clark County, the Bodak Yellow rapper, "appeared onstage under visibly high-temperature conditions and, while holding a microphone, verbally requested that the audience splash water on her."

The court document further elaborated that she "made repeated gestures and statements encouraging concertgoers to throw water, implicitly authorizing and inviting light splashing from drinks.”

Moreover, Jane claimed that Cardi "further demonstrated her consent and participation by pouring water from a bottle over her body while onstage," and that she "physically reacted to splashes by slapping her posterior while audience-thrown liquids made contact with her."

The lawsuit also alleges that the WAP singer should have known that throwing a microphone posed a "foreseeable risk of physical injury," describing the act as "unjustified and retaliatory."

In a statement to PEOPLE, Jane emphasised, "What has been written off as a joke by many people is actually a traumatic experience that has significantly impacted my well-being and quality of life. I am seeking justice in the hopes of holding Cardi B accountable for her misdeeds, as no celebrity is above the law."

Notably, this news comes shortly after Cardi B confirmed her relationship with Stephon Diggs on June 1, 2025.
