Jessica Simpson surprised fans with a new song seemingly hinting at the end of her marriage with Eric Johnson.

On Tuesday, July 22, the singer released her latest single Fade, the song seems to be a nod at the demise of her martial relationship with the former NFL player.

The song lyrics are, “You can always say you love me / That doesn't mean that I feel loved / There's a green light in the distance / And all your words become too much / Well I won't repeat this history / The kind I've seen times before / Here's the part, I should say I miss you / But I think you'll miss me more.”

Jessica sings about her former lover, calling them "as empty as your promise" and telling them to "sleep alone in the bed you made."

In the song she also desires for the safety of being truly loved and cared for as the With You hitmaker sings, “I know that home is a feeling / And not a place / Oh, there won't be a next time / Cause I won't break.”

On Wednesday, July 23, the 45-year-old performed Fade at the Today show’s Citi Concert Series.

In the show, NBC correspondent Peter Alexander asked the American singer and actress “How does it feel back on the stage, the first release in 15 years?”

To which the mother-of-three responded, who was wearing a pink corset dress with feathered fringe skirt and a silver sparkly jacket, “It’s insane. And of course, I had a malfunction here and everywhere, but it’s okay, I think my boobs stayed in, so it’s okay.”

Jessica Simpson announced her separation with husband Eric Johnson in January and they share three children, Maxwell Drew, Ace Knute and Birdie Mae Johnson.
