Julia Garner gives surprising update on highly-anticipated Madonna biopic

Julia Garner shared an exciting update about the upcoming Madonna biopic, in which the actress will play the seven-time Grammy winner.

During her recent appearance at the SmartLess podcast with Sean Hayes, Will Arnett and Jason Bateman, the Wolf Man actress revealed that the biopic, which has been in development for years, is "supposed to still happen."

When Sean asked Julia about her involvement in the project, she explained that as a huge fan of Madonna’s music since she was young, she could not resist auditioning when she heard about the biopic.

“It just came about… like I knew that they were doing a project, making a movie about it, and then I went out to audition, I kind of just wanted to see if I could do it,” the Fantastic Four: First Steps star said.

Julia shared for the audition she tried to opted  Madonna's personality and behavior.

She continued, "which is like convince you that she deserves… to be in this room, and I owned it. I was like, you can take it or leave it, but if you leave it, if I leave, then that’s on you.”

The Apartment 7A star told the hosts that the Madonna film is still in development, noting that she's learned that good things often take time to come together.

Julia Garner has been linked to the Madonna biopic since at least 2022, following her success with the Netflix series Inventing Anna, as per the inside source, she was Madonna’s top pick to play her in the movie.
