Emma Corrin stars in special ‘Pride and Prejudice’ adaptation for Netflix
Emma Corrin and Jack Lowden set to lead diverse ‘Pride and Prejudice’ adaptation

Emma Corrin stars as the timeless literary heroine Elizabeth Bennet, alongside Scottish actor Jack Lowden as Mr. Darcy, in the latest look at Netflix’s upcoming adaptation of Pride and Prejudice.
However, the new iteration of the classic Jane Austen novel will feature a more diverse cast, as certain traditionally white characters are set to be portrayed by mixed race actors.
The Guardian has reported that the latest change has been introduced by the streamer in keeping with its “efforts to increase ethnic representation onscreen.”
Characters whose racial background has been transformed by casting are the Bingleys, neighbours to the story’s protagonist family, the Bennets.
Irish actor Daryl McCormack will play Mr. Bingley, while his sister Caroline Bingley will be played by Black Mirror actress Siena Kelly.
Netflix’s diversity lead, Verna Myers shared that the company “really emphasised black” for the project’s casting decisions.
While release schedule for the planned miniseries adaptation of Pride and Prejudice is not yet known, other notable stars who will join Emma Corrin and Jack Lowden in the Netflix production are Olivia Colman as Mrs. Bennet, Rufus Sewell as Mr. Bennet, and Louis Partridge as Mr. Wickham.
