Ariana Grande’s romantic journey: Complete dating history revealed

From her early teenage years, Ariana Grande has lived most of her life in front of the cameras.

The 32-year-old actress and singer stepped into fame pretty quickly and since then almost every relationship, romance and heartbreak has been followed closely by fans and the media.

Here is the entire timeline of Ariana Grande’s dating life

Graham Phillips

Ariana’s earliest public relationship dates back to 2008, when she met Graham Phillips while performing in the Broadway musical 13.

The two dated for three years and during that time they also released the song Stick Around together.

However, despite going their separate ways in 2011, they both had decided to remain friends. Graham also shared a picture with the Victorious alum back in 2016 on Instagram.

The two were later spotted enjoying a dinner outing at the popular NYC Italian hotspot Carbone in 2019.

Jai Brooks

In 2012, Ariana found herself in an on and off relationship with Jai Brooks, the singer and Youtuber best known as a member of the group The Janoskians.

Their romance got messy when Jai claimed Ariana cheated on him with Nathan Sykes but the pop-star had denied those accusations.

Despite their very public drama online, the pair decided to leave the past in the past and got back together in 2014. However, their reunion was short lived as they ended up calling it quits for good after 3 months. 

Nathan Sykes

Between the on and off with Jai Brooks, Ariana also had a romantic relationship with the English singer Nathan Sykes from music group The Wanted in 2013.

Sparks ignited while filming for the music video for their song Almost is Never Enough, and after keeping fans guessing for months the former pair took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to confirm their relationship.

The Into You hitmaker confirmed on a radio interview in 2014, that they had officially terminated their relationship citing distance as the reason. 

Big Sean

Ariana was also romantically involved with rapper Big Sean, whose real name is Sean Michael Leonard Anderson, for eight months, from 2014-2015.

While chatting with the Telegraph, the Focus singer reportedly confirmed their pairing by calling him, "one of the most amazing men in the whole world."

But their relationship couldn’t last long either as their conflicting tour schedules got in the way, and they broke up less than a year later.

Despite the break up, Sean had nothing but nice things to say about Ariana. During an appearance on On Air with Ryan Seacrest, he shared what he truly thought about the star.

"Ariana is very, very special. She's very special to me," he expressed. 

Ricky Alvarez

Ariana and Ricky’s romantic relationship began in 2015, after he joined her team as one of her back up dancers.

He stood by her side during the highly publicized Doughnut Debacle. Ariana was caught licking doughnuts at a bakery and made a remark that sparked immense outrage online.

After a year, their romance came to an end and the two went their separate ways. However, later on playfully looked back at their romance in her song thank u, next. But rather than being offended, Ricky in fact responded with humour, posting a clip of him singling along to the song.

Mac Miller

Ariana and Mac Miller dated for two years from 2016-2018 before parting ways. However, the two had previously first met back in 2013, when they collaborated on her song The Way.

Although the two had broken up, Ariana only had nice things to say about the late rapper. Taking to Instagram, Ariana expressed, "I respect and adore him endlessly and am grateful to have him in my life in any form, at all times regardless of how our relationship changes or what the universe holds for each of us!"

Later that year, Mac tragically passed away from an accidental drug overdose. Taking to Instagram again, she shared a touching and heartfelt message for him explaining how much she "adored" him when she was 19 and will continue to do so in years to come.

In 2019, she reflected on her relationship with Mac while speaking to Vogue, revealing, "By no means was what we had perfect. He was the best person ever, and he didn't deserve the demons he had."

Continuing, "I was the glue for such a long time, and I found myself becoming less and less sticky. The pieces just started to float away."

Ariana also paid a heartfelt tribute to Mac, whose real name is Malcolm James McCormick, in her hit song thank u, next. 

Pete Davidson

Not long after her separation from Mac, Ariana began dating Pete.

The Saturday Night Live alum confirmed their relationship in May 2018 with a playful photo posted on Instagram. In the picture the duo were dressed in Harry Potter wizard robes.

Just a month after making their romance Instagram official, Pete and Ariana got engaged.

However, this relationship happened to also be short lived, as they broke up, calling off the engagement just a few months later in October 2018.

Dalton Gomez

Ariana began dating Dalton in 2020, during the Covid-19 pandemic, allowing them to spend some years focused on each other.

Later in the year, they both got engaged and married the next year in May 2021. However, despite staying in close proximity for years they decided to secretly call off their marriage in February 2023 and filed for divorce the same year in September 2023, which was finalised in March 2024. 

Now: Ethan Slater

In a shocking turn of events, in 2023, TMZ had reported that Ariana was in a romantic relationship with Ethan Slater, not long after parting ways with her ex husband Dalton.

This news took the internet by storm as Ethan Slater had called it off with his wife Lilly and after Ariana ended things with Dalton.

Although there has been some debate going on about when their relationship officially began, it is clear that the Wicked co-stars are still thriving as a couple.

On the day Ethan filed for divorce from his wife, Lily opened up about the situation while talking to Page Six, saying, "My family is just collateral damage."
