The Mona Fastvold directional tells the story of an 18th-century female preacher named Ann Lee, who founded the Shaker movement.

The movie stars Amanda Seyfried as Ann Lee, the founder of the Shaker movement.

Apart from her, the movie also features Thomasin McKenzie, Lewis Pullman, Stacy Martin, Tim Blake Nelson, Christopher Abbott, and Matthew Beard in supporting roles.

4. Frankenstein (14 minutes)

Directed by Guillermo del Toro, Jacob Elordi starrer, during the film festival, received applause break, approximately 14 minutes.

However, Deadline stated it was 15 minutes, and Variety reported 13.

5. Blonde (14 minutes)

The 2022 biopic based on Marilyn Monroe, began with a blaze of glory in Venice and received a standing ovation of 14 minutes at the film festival.

Starring Ana de Armas, Blonde is a fictionalised interpretation of the life and career of the late American actress.

The cast, apart from the Ballerina actress, also includes Adrien Brody, Bobby Cannavale, Xavier Samuel, and Julianne Nicholson.

6. The Wizard of the Kremlin (10 minutes)

Jude Law starrer The Wizard of the Kremlin received standing ovation of around 10 minutes at the Venice Film Festival.

The film stars Law as Vladimir Putin, the current Russian president and it explores Putin's rise to power in post-Soviet Russia through the eyes of a fictional TV producer, Vadim Baranov, played by Paul Dano.

Apart from Law and Dano, the movie also stars Alicia Vikander, Tom Sturridge, and Jeffrey Wright in the supporting role.

7. Poor Things (10 minutes)

The Emma Stone starrer, which also led the actress won an Oscar for Best Actress in 2024, received a 10-minute standing ovation at the film festival.

Poor Things, which also starred Mark Ruffalo, and Willem Dafoe, based on a young woman, who brought back to life by an unorthodox scientist.

She runs off with a lawyer on a whirlwind adventure across the continents and free from the prejudices of her times, growing steadfast in her purpose to stand for equality and liberation.

8. Origin (9 minutes)

Based on Isabel Wilkerson's book "Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents", the 2024 film, which explores the concept of caste systems in the United States, India, and Nazi Germany, made a major splash at the Venice Film Festival, earning a nine-minute standing ovation.

However later things did not go well with Origin as it had a muted theatrical release and went un-nominated by the Oscars.

The movie starred Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor, Jon Bernthal, Niecy Nash, Emily Yancy, and Finn Wittrock.

9. No Other Choice (8 1/2-minutes)

Park Chan-wook starrer No Other Choice received an 8 1/2-minute ovation at the Venice Film Festival.

Interesting, this jet-black comedy thriller movie marks the Korean filmmaker’s first time playing in Venice Film Festival competition.

The film is based on the 1997 novel The Ax by Donald Westlake and follows a man who is abruptly laid off by the paper company where he worked tirelessly for 25 years; this leads him to grow increasingly desperate in his hunt for new work.

The movie apart from the Squid Game performer, also features stars Son Ye-jin, Park Hee-soon, Lee Sung-min, Yeom Hye-ran, Cha Seung-won, and Yoo Yeon-seok.

10. Maria (8 minutes)

The movie based on Opera singer Maria Callas starred Angelina Jolie in the leading role.

The biographical drama received an eight-minute standing ovation at the film festival.

The Pablo Larraín directional follows the week before the late Opera singer’s death in 1977 Paris, as she reflects on her life and career.
