Prince Harry returns to the UK: Key predictions about the trip

Prince Harry has finally landed back on British soil — solo, once again — and the rumour mill is in full swing.

While sources close to the Duke of Sussex have reiterated that “there is no negativity with this trip”, there are experts, observers, and close aides on each of the sides that are impacted by Harry’s trip and they have descended upon the matter with their own opinions and predictions regarding it.

Family trips

While the Duke has returned to his home country with his wife, Meghan Markle, only once following their relocation to the US in 2020, the couple’s two children have not made their way to the UK at all in that time frame.

Harry has previously expressed a hopeful outlook for visiting the country alongside his family — hopes which are echoing louder during the latest trip.

“He’s not given up hope on bringing his family back to the UK,” The Sunday Times quoted friends close to the Duke.

They further added, “He wants to be able to show his children where he grew up. He wants them to know their family here. He really would like to come back to the UK much more.”

Meghan’s fears

Amid the Duke’s return, royal expert Jennie Bond has posited that the Duchess must feel “threatened” by the prospect of her husband being dragged back into “the royal circle”.

“It would be natural for her to feel somewhat threatened by her husband being drawn back into the royal circle. So, I think she would have conflicting emotions about Harry meeting his father, if this is indeed on the cards. I’m sure, though, that they would have discussed it, and that Harry would not go ahead if he did not have his wife’s support,” she told OK! Magazine.

Reunion with King Charles

Though there are expectations that Prince Harry may connect with Prince William during his visit, the reunion of paramount importance at the moment is the one between him and his father, King Charles.

“A meeting with Charles is not off the table but the only people who would know about it are Clive Alderton and Charles and Harry,” reported a source for Mail on Sunday, while mentioning the King’s private secretary.

The insider further offered that despite the Duke remaining secretive, “It certainly is part of his intention to see his father.”
