Many famous faces of Hollywood paved their way into the entertainment world with a degree in hand.

Check out who they are:

Emma Watson

After taking a break from acting, the Harry Potter actress enrolled at Brown University in 2009 and graduated with a degree in English Literature in 2014.

She continued her education by enrolling in a master’s program in Creative Writing at Oxford University.

Later, in 2015, Oxford Mail reported that Emma was pursuing her doctorate.

James Franco

The 127 Hours actor initially dropped out of UCLA but later returned and completed his undergraduate degree in 2008.

As a graduate student, James attended New York University, Columbia University, Brooklyn College, and Yale University.

Lupita Nyong'o

The Oscar-winning actress landed her breakthrough role in 12 Years a Slave after completing her three-year degree in acting at Yale School of Drama in 2012.

For her undergraduate degree, Lupita attended Hampshire College.

John Legend

The All of Me crooner turned down a scholarship from Harvard to attend the University of Pennsylvania.

He graduated in 1999 and even served as president of a singing group while he was there.

Mindy Kaling

The Never I Have Ever creator graduated from Dartmouth University in 2001.

Mindy majored in theater and also wrote a daily comic strip for the student newspaper called Badly Drawn Girl.

Brad Pitt

The F1 actor majored in journalism at the University of Missouri.

However, Brad reportedly dropped out just two weeks before graduating to pursue acting.

Natalie Portman

The actress enrolled at Harvard University after starring in Star Wars.

Interestingly, Natalie was still a student at Syosset High School in Long Island, New York, when she filmed Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace.

She graduated from Harvard in 2003 with a degree in psychology.

Tom Hanks

The Forrest Gump actor had low expectations when it came to college admissions.

He first enrolled at Chabot College,a local community college that was affordable for his family.

Two years later, in 1976, he transferred to California State University, Sacramento, where he majored in theater.
