Kate Middleton’s royal warning: The unavoidable responsibilities ahead

Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales, may radiate poise and elegance on the world stage, but according to royal experts, her journey as future Queen will come with duties she must fulfill, “like it or not.”

Former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond recently opened up about what lies ahead for Kate in an interview with The Mirror.

1. Kate's Role in State Visits

State visits are among the most high-pressure duties for members of the royal family, and Kate has already been tested. 

Reflecting on her presence during the state visit of U.S. President Donald Trump, Bond remarked, “It must be a daunting responsibility to play a leading role in such an important state visit."

"But I have been struck by how poised and confident Catherine now is on the world stage,” Bond added.

2. Mastering the Art of Royal Performance

Even Kate’s body language during such events has been scrutinized. Bond observed, “Her body language suggested she did it well, and she allowed herself to look happily flattered by his lavish praise. And, of course, she deserved some compliments: she looked a million dollars.”

3. The Harsh Reality: ‘Like It or Not’

Bond also issued a stark reminder of what’s to come for Kate as future Queen, “In the coming decades, Catherine will be hosting many state visits from leaders around the world. Like the King, and the late Queen, she and William will do the bidding of the government of the day.”

She added, “Like it or not, they will put on a show for their guests, in the name of improving bilateral relations and carrying out the wishes of our political leaders.”

That includes hosting world leaders in their homes, regardless of personal opinions about them.

4. Learning From the Late Queen’s Playbook

Even Queen Elizabeth II had her limits with state guests. Bond recalled a humorous moment when Her Majesty was seen hiding behind a bush to avoid Romanian president Nicolae Ceausescu and his wife.

Still, Kate is expected to shine in such situations.

“I’m sure Catherine has already learned a great deal from the late Queen and from her father-in-law. She is the jewel in the crown at events like this… it’s the princess who brings the wow factor to the banquet table.”
