Meghan Markle’s shocking Netflix struggles

Meghan Markle has been hit with a major clapback about her future with Netflix, and it comes from none other than expert commentator Edward Coram-James.

The CEO of Go Up didn’t hold back in his assessment of the Sussexes’ deal with the streaming giant, one he labeled as Netflix’s “expensive failure.”

1. The Failure Label

Coram-James admitted that describing the Sussexes as Netflix’s “expensive failure” may sound brutal, but he added that it’s “arguably an accurate label from Netflix’s perspective for the first deal.”

2. A $100 Million Question

The commentator stressed the importance of looking at “the numbers and the deliverables.” Netflix reportedly shelled out $100 million for exclusive rights to a variety of content from Harry and Meghan. Coram-James asked bluntly, “What did they get?”

He added, “Primarily, the Harry & Meghan documentary and some smaller projects like the Polo series and Meghan's With Love, Meghan.”

3. A One-Time Hit with ‘Harry & Meghan’

While the Harry & Meghan documentary series was undeniably a huge success, Coram-James noted that “the Harry & Meghan doc was a massive commercial hit, no doubt, but it was essentially a one-time event that leveraged their personal royal story. The other projects haven't had the same impact.”

4. Other Projects Fell Flat

Coram-James didn’t mince words about the couple’s follow-up ventures.

The Polo docuseries “reportedly drew a tiny audience.”

Meghan’s lifestyle series With Love, Meghan was renewed for a second season but failed to break into Netflix’s Top 10 during its debut week.

He added, “It’s not a global sensation.”

5. Uncertain Future with Netflix

Currently, there’s no word on a third season of With Love, Meghan, though a Christmas episode is expected later this year.

The uncertain trajectory raises serious questions about the Sussexes’ long-term future with the platform, given the huge investment already made.
