'Stranger Things' star Gaten Matarazzo reveals ‘disgusting’ reality of living with costar

While Stranger Things often felt like high-school for the cast but Gaten Matarazzo joked that sharing a place with his co-star Finn Wolfhard was more "like a college experience."

During his appearance on Dinner's on Me With Jesse Tyler Ferguson, the 23-year-old actor reflected on the fifth and final season of the hit Netflix show, which he landed when he was only 12-years-old.

He went on to detail how he spent a year living with the It star while filming for season 4.

"I would look around, like, three months after we were living together and be like, 'This place is disgusting,'" he remarked. "What are we doing?'"

When the Modern Family alum questioned Gaten about who was the messier roommate, the Honor Society star playfully quipped "kind of matched each other's energy."

Initially, the chaos stayed behind their bedroom doors, but eventually made its way to shared spaces.

According to the young actor, who played Dustin Henderson on Stranger Things, even the laundry piled up high and dishes filled up the sink.

The duo never held each other to any cleaning standard, until friends dropped by and they got a rude awakening.

As their lease came towards its end, Finn and Gaten decided enough was enough and cleaned up their act. Gaten admitted he wasn't sure if they would get along well with each other at first, he said living together with one of his best friends was "so much fun."

With the first four episodes of the final season out on November 26, and the rest of the episodes coming out on December 25 and the big finale on December 31, the cast mark a bittersweet moment as they say goodbye to the hit sci-fi horror series.
