Kim Kardashian’s law school victory comes with PR stunt joke

Kim Kardashian is opening up about the lengths she’s willing to go in her career.

In the newest episode of The Kardashians, which premiered Thursday, December 11, friends and family surprised the mother of four with a celebration marking her law school graduation, a milestone that took six years to achieve.

Among the guests was political analyst and lawyer Van Jones, who played a key role in Kardashian’s journey.

In a confessional, 45-year-old star, reflected on the support she’s received. “This whole process of law school has taken a village. It really started with Van Jones, who recommended I do this program.”

Jones, praised her dedication in his speech at the event, describing her involvement in the criminal justice world as “a miracle.”

He spoke about the challenges of the field, “It’s a lonely fight, you get the smallest grants, your phone call gets returned last — if at all.”

Then, he added, “And then a miracle happened: the biggest star in the world, a household name — if you go to Antarctica, the penguins know who the Kardashians are — raised her hand, said she wanted to help.”

Addressing critics, Jones said people once claimed her efforts were a publicity stunt. “Were that to be true,” he joked, it would have to be “the most labor-intensive publicity stunt in the history of publicity stunts. What kind of publicity stunt takes six years? No.”

But the reality star couldn’t help poking fun at herself. “It was nice for him to say, but I was like, oh, this man does not know me. Kim K. would take six years for a PR stunt.”

“Does he know who I am?” she said in a confessional. Laughing, she added, “Of course, I’d take six years for a PR stunt!” Still she made it clear her true motivation is genuine, “I mean, that’s not why I’m in it, but you know what I mean.”

Van Jones has long supported Kardashian's work, which once sparked rumours of a romance between them. In 2022, he joked the speculation was the “best rumor ever” and she agreed it was “funny.”

Though Kim Kardashian revealed in November that she did not pass the July California bar exam but she remains dedicated to becoming a lawyer.
