Steven Spielberg teases new sci-fi film with mysterious campaign
It marks Spielberg’s first return to the genre since Ready Player One in 2018
Steven Spielberg is stepping back into the world of science fiction, and he’s doing it with more mystery.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the director has quietly launched the marketing campaign for his next Sci-Fi epic.
It marks Spielberg’s first return to the genre since Ready Player One in 2018, and his first alien-themed story in more than 20 years, following 2005’s War of the Worlds.
This time, he’s working from an original idea of his own, with a script written by longtime collaborator David Koepp. The pair have teamed up on some of Spielberg’s biggest blockbusters, including Jurassic Park and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
The new project casts Emily Blunt, Josh O’Connor, Colin Firth and Colman Domingo with John Williams returning to compose the score.
Plot details are still firmly under wraps, but the teaser alone has already sparked excitement. Spielberg’s untitled Sci-Fi adventure is set to hit cinemas on June 6, 2026.
