Eric Idle details conversation with Rob Reiner from the night before his death
Eric Idle has revealed that he had a phone conversation with Rob Reiner mere hours before his tragic death alongside his wife, Michele Reiner.
The legendary comic revealed that he spoke with Reiner “for over an hour” the night before he passed away.
“He was telling me about filming at Stonehenge and his thoughts for the future,” he said. “This is so awful. I shall miss him. A clever, talented and very thoughtful man. So awful.”
Idle had known the late filmmaker nearly 50 years, with the actor and comedian having “met him at his Dad’s in 1975.”
While Deadline reported that Reiner had been developing a Fawlty Towers reboot with Idle’s Monty Python friend John Cleese, “which he and his wife were producing” before they were killed.
Rob Reiner and Michele Reiner’s deaths shook Hollywood on December 14, with tributes continuously pouring in for the director and his photographer-producer wife who are claimed to have been murdered by their son, Nick.
