GQ Award reschedule amidst Bondi Beach terror attack
GQ Australia Men of the Year Awards has been cancelled following the Bondi Beach tradegy
GQ Australia Men of the Year Awards, which was scheduled to take place on December 17, has been cancelled following the attack at Bondi Beach.
As reported by Daily Mail, the magazine's official Instagram page announced that the ceremony has been cancelled as the statement read: “In light of the horrific attacks against the Jewish community at Sydney's Bondi Beach, the 2025 GQ Men of the Year awards will not be taking place on Wednesday this week, as planned.”
The statement went on to add, “Our thoughts are with the victims, their families and anyone who has been affected by this tragedy.
“Potential attendees were additionally notified of the cancellation via email on Monday afternoon.”
The event was scheduled to take place on Wednesday at the Overseas Passenger Terminal in Sydney.
It’s worth mentioning here that it's the second major event that has been scrapped in light of the massacre.
The organisers behind the Sydney premiere of Sam Worthington's upcoming movie Avatar: Fire and Ash have also cancelled the event.
It comes after two men stepped out of a vehicle on Campbell Parade, near Bondi Pavilion, and opened fire about, killing 16 people on Sunday, December 14, 2025.
