Hugh Jackman-starrer ‘The Death of Robin Hood’ announces trailer release

Hugh Jackman is set to appear in a new subversive take on the classic tale of Robin Hood in the upcoming thriller, The Death of Robin Hood.

Also starring Bill Skarsgård and Jodie Comer, the film is produced by A24 and directed by Michael Sarnoski, who previously directed the Nicolas Cage-starrer Pig for the indie film studio.

The film’s debut poster was shared by A24 on X (formerly called Twitter), with the announcement that its trailer will drop on January 6.

“He was no hero,” read the poster’s bold tagline.

“Grappling with his past after a life of crime and murder, Robin Hood finds himself gravely injured after a battle he thought would be his last. In the hands of a mysterious woman, he is offered a chance at salvation,” revealed the film’s official synopsis on IMDb.

According to Digital Spy, “While little information is available about who the cast will be playing, we do know that Jackman is on board to star as Robin Hood.”

Producers Aaron Ryder and Andrew Swett stated, “This is not the story of Robin Hood we’ve all come to know. Instead, Michael has crafted something far more grounded and visceral.”

Whereas Sarnoski noted, “It has been an incredible opportunity to reinvent and freshly innovate the story we all know of Robin Hood.”

“Securing the perfect cast to transform the script to screen was essential. I could not be more thrilled and trusting in Hugh and Jodie to bring this story to life in a powerful and meaningful way,” his statement added.

Entertainment Weekly had previously shared the film’s first stills on December 16, which included Jackman’s “grizzly and intense” transformation as the famous literary hero.

The Death of Robin Hood, starring Hugh Jackman, is set to be released sometime in 2026.
