Jon Stewart slams GOP 'victimhood' after Bad Bunny’s Spanish performance
The comedian compared Kid Rock’s incoherent lyrics to the King’s English
Jon Stewart was in top form on The Daily Show this week, aiming his sharpest barbs at the MAGA movement's "pathetic" reaction to Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl performance.
After mocking the "slow, grinding" game, Stewart turned his attention to those offended by the halftime show's Spanish lyrics.
He joked that for some, everything must be "judged on how well it conforms to that traditional vision, which doesn’t include knowing where the biblioteca is."
The host sarcastically championed Turning Point USA’s "All-American" alternative featuring Kid Rock.
Playing a clip of the rocker’s incoherent, lip-synced "Bawitaba" lyrics, Stewart quipped, “Merriam and Webster couldn’t have put it better themselves.”
He later grew serious, questioning why a musician is expected to heal political divides: “Why the fuck is it the Super Bowl halftime entertainer’s job to unify the country?”
The monologue also tackled the defence of a racist video posted by Donald Trump. Responding to claims that the clip wasn't entirely racist, Stewart used a crude but vivid analogy, arguing: “There are certain things in this world where placement is less important than presence.”
In a blistering finale, Stewart called out the irony of powerful politicians acting like victims.
“It’s actually fucking pathetic, the gap between the power you all wield — I’m not done! — and the victimhood you all claim is the real offense,” he told the cheering crowd.
He concluded that creating "safe space" alternative shows over 20 minutes of Spanish singing betrayed a deep lack of confidence.
