Charli XCX has hinted at a possible career shift, revealing she would love to focus more on acting and filmmaking in the future.

The 33-year-old pop star recently joked that she wants to “quit music” as she continues exploring opportunities in the film industry.

During an appearance on the Feeding Starving Celebrities series hosted by Quenlin Blackwell, the singer was asked whether she hopes to pursue more acting roles.

“Yes, are you kidding?” Charli replied. “I want to quit music, babe, and act.”

Blackwell quickly pointed out the massive success of Charli’s 2024 album Brat, prompting the singer to jokingly respond, “What else is there to do?”

In recent months, Charli has increasingly stepped into the film world, working on several cinematic projects.

Among them is her involvement with music connected to Wuthering Heights, as well as the mockumentary-style film The Moment.

The singer has even begun imagining her own movie concepts. Charli previously shared a tongue-in-cheek horror idea on TikTok, describing it as an “it-girl Final Destination.”

“We would be being killed by machinery or something like that,” she joked. “If it was an it-girl thing, all the deaths would be on the runway. I would probably die at some kind of a rave.”

Charli has also been collaborating with producer Jack Antonoff on music for the upcoming horror film Mother Mary, further deepening her connection with the movie industry.

Writing on her Substack last year, the singer reflected on how much she has enjoyed the creative shift.

“Film is where my creative brain seems to be gravitating,” she wrote, adding that she enjoys acting, writing, and discovering new artistic crafts.

Despite her excitement about film, Charli made it clear that music will likely always remain a part of her life.

“Music is a limb I will probably never fully be able to cut from my body,” she admitted.
