Medical experts are highlighting the medicinal potential of Java plum seeds as an underrated tool for managing blood glucose levels.

Dr Shubham Vatsya, a gastroenterologist with over a decade of experience, suggests that these seeds contain natural compounds such as jamboline and ellagic acid.

In a clinical briefing shared on Thursday, he explained that: “Jamun has faced marketing challenges because it serves as a hidden secret hack for diabetes management.”

The therapeutic benefit lies in the ability of the seeds to slow the conversion of starch into sugar and potentially stimulate insulin secretion.

Beyond glucose regulation, the seeds are packed with antioxidants, fibre, and tannins, which support gut health and reduce inflammation.

Dr Vatsya noted: “They contain compounds like jamboline and ellagic acid that slow the conversion of starch into sugar and may directly stimulate insulin secretion. They also offer antioxidants and fibre, helping gut health and reducing inflammation.”

Despite these benefits, practitioners warn that natural supplements are not a substitute for traditional care. Dr Vatsya emphasised that: “This is not a magic powder.

Nevertheless, if you pay attention to your diet, incorporate walking into your routine, and improve your overall lifestyle, Jamun seed powder can be a beneficial addition to your regimen.”

He advises consistent monitoring of blood sugar levels and suggests that the best approach is to consume one spoonful of the powder every morning with warm water.

This natural intervention works most effectively when paired with a disciplined daily routine and professional medical oversight.
