Sean Durkin expands cast of ‘Deep Cuts’ with star-studded additions

Director Sean Durkin has expanded the cast of his upcoming A24 film Deep Cuts, adding four new actors to the ensemble.

Joining the project are Abubakr Ali, Quintessa Swindell, Jennifer Jason Leigh and Gaby Hoffmann. Details about their roles have not yet been disclosed.

The film already features a strong lineup including Cailee Spaeny, Drew Starkey and Ariela Barer. Backed by A24, Deep Cuts is based on the debut novel by Holly Brickley.

Set in the early 2000s, the story follows two music-obsessed young adults navigating ambition, identity and relationships over a transformative decade. 

The film is described as a character-driven love story exploring the complexities of adulthood and belonging.

Durkin, known for his distinct storytelling style, is directing from his own screenplay and also producing alongside a team that includes Eli Bush, Ronald Bronstein, Josh Safdie, Anthony Katagas and others. Music for the film will be composed by Blake Mills.

The newly announced cast members bring a mix of rising talent and established performers, adding further depth to the project. 

Production details remain limited, but the film is already generating attention due to its source material, creative team and growing ensemble cast.
