'The Little Mermaid' star says she’d love to play the queen in Netflix’s Bridgerton
Halle Bailey opened up about her latest inspirations, revealing her admiration for the hit period drama Bridgerton and the role she would love to play if given the chance.
In a recent interview, the 26-year-old star shared that she is a devoted fan of the Netflix series and has her sights set on portraying one of its most powerful characters.
“I love Bridgerton, yes. I would want to be the queen,” Bailey said, referring to the show’s influential monarch known for orchestrating society’s matchmaking and selecting the “diamond” of the season.
Bailey is currently starring alongside Regé-Jean Page in the romantic film You, Me and Tuscany, and she didn’t hold back in praising her co-star.
Describing him as “funny” and “warm,” she also noted his unmistakable charm, joking about his English accent becoming more pronounced while in London.
Looking ahead, the actress expressed a desire to expand her acting range by stepping into darker territory.
Inspired by the recent film Sinners, which stars Michael B. Jordan and Hailee Steinfeld, Bailey said she is eager to take on a horror role after building a career largely defined by lighter, feel-good projects.
Beyond her acting ambitions, Bailey also reflected on her long-standing relationship with global superstar Beyoncé, whom she affectionately described as a “cool auntie.”
Having known the music icon since her teenage years, Bailey revealed she still seeks her guidance, particularly when it comes to her music.
The singer-actress, who released her debut solo album in 2025, said Beyoncé remains supportive while encouraging her individuality.
“She’s always so responsive and attentive, but she also lets you be you,” Bailey shared, highlighting the mentorship that continues to shape her evolving career.
