Wife furious over husband's bromance with her boyfriend, opens fire on party house
An Ohio woman is facing prison time after firing a gun at a home
An Ohio woman, upset that her estranged husband and his new companion were spending time together, is facing prison time after firing a gun at a home where they were having a party and wounding an innocent guest.
Olivia Clendenin received a sentence ranging from 16 to 20 years in prison last week following her conviction in early February for attempted murder and other crimes associated with the shooting incident.
"She drove onto the lawn and shot at the residence," a Clearcreek Township police sergeant informed reporters after the January 2024 incident, as reported by the Dayton Daily News.
Clendenin was found guilty by a Warren County jury, which convicted her of four counts: two of felonious assault, discharging a firearm into a residence, and the attempted murder charge, according to local NBC affiliate WLWT.
"Clendenin began 2025 as a free woman, but will spend 2026 and at least the following decade behind bars for attempted murder, targeting one of her romantic interests yet almost fatally injuring an unknowing victim," Warren County Prosecutor David Fornshell stated to local Fox affiliate WXIX in a statement regarding Clendenin's sentence.
Clendenin was allegedly upset with her estranged husband and his new companion after seeing them at a New Year's Eve party.
She left angrily before returning around 5am to shoot at the house where the celebration was held, using her mother's 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee.
A 29-year-old man, known through WLWT as Daniel Johnson — who spoke at Clendenin's sentencing — was on the porch and was shot in the abdomen.
"I was invited and was just sitting on the porch keeping to myself," Johnson explained. "The defendant aimed at someone else, but I ended up getting shot. My life changed in that instant for reasons unrelated to me."
Clendenin subsequently crashed her mother's Jeep during her getaway. Police noted she collided with a guardrail and a utility pole while navigating a curve.
Clearcreek police apprehended Clendenin at the crash site, where she claimed innocence.
She was released after posting bail, remained under electronic home monitoring, and was prohibited from contacting witnesses involved in her case, prior to being sentenced.
"I want to express that I have a profound love for my family, friends, business, and those who count on me," Clendenin stated during the sentencing hearing.
"I am immensely relieved that Daniel is doing well after such an ordeal, and I sincerely hope for his bright future and wish him only the best."
