Prime Video cancels ‘The Runarounds’ after one season
Prime Video has decided not to renew 'The Runarounds' for a second season
The series The Runarounds will not continue into a second season as Prime Video has chosen not to extend the YA drama.
This news isn't unexpected since seven months have elapsed since the debut of the eight-episode first season on September 1.
Insiders reveal the show was quietly canceled a few months back. Its main actress, Lilah Pate, has now secured a regular role in another series, Taylor Sheridan’s Tulsa King spinoff, Frisco King, for Paramount+.
Though The Runarounds series is concluding, the eponymous band featured in it will continue on for now.
The group, consisting of the show's stars and real-life musicians William Lipton, Axel Ellis, Jeremy Yun, Zendé Murdock, and Jesse Golliher, is touring until the end of June.
Created by Jonas Pate, co-creator of Outer Banks, and produced by all three Outer Banks creators, Jonas Pate, Josh Pate, and Shannon Burke, The Runarounds was inspired by the actual band of the same name formed in 2021 for the popular Netflix series.
The Runarounds was part of Prime Video’s significant YA growth effort following the big success of The Summer I Turned Pretty.
This effort included successful series Maxton Hall and We Were Liars, the hit Culpables movie series, as well as another 2025 show, Motorheads, which also didn't get renewed for a second season.
Similar to Motorheads, The Runarounds didn’t manage to make a significant impact.
It never made it onto Nielsen’s Top 10, though it did briefly appear on Luminate’s Top 50, with 1.9 million hours watched in the US at #32 for its premiere weekend, then 2.2 million (#27) and 1.2 million (#41) in the following weeks.
Produced by Amazon MGM Studios and Skydance Television, The Runarounds tells the story of a group of recent high school graduates from Wilmington, North Carolina, who form a rock band in the summer after graduation, driven by their shared passion for music and the challenging dream of fame.
