Zach Bryan cancels first headlining show due to storm
Bryan stated that those with tickets to concert would receive automatic refunds
Zach Bryan experiences a new milestone: canceling a headlining show due to the weather.
The 30-year-old musician announced the cancellation of his planned stadium performance on the evening of Friday (April 3) in Tulsa, Okla. due to harsh weather.
Bryan explained that this event cancellation is the first in his five years of touring as a headliner. The musician is currently touring for his With Heaven on Tour.
"I upset quite a few people this morning by trying to ‘perform regardless,’” he wrote in an Instagram post. “If it were up to me, things would be different. I’m sorry, and I appreciate all of you.”
The “Pink Skies” artist posted a note on Instagram directed at his “fellow Oklahomans” saying he had been “compelled” by his team to cancel the show at H.A. Chapman Stadium due to the “risk of severe and dangerous weather.”
“I’ve never had to cancel a show in my entire career, but I'm afraid there’s no other choice,” he mentioned. “We apologise for any trouble this may cause and thank you for your understanding.”
Bryan included a screenshot of a text message, likely from a team member, describing the situation in detail. The message stated they consulted local authorities and weather experts, deciding that proceeding with the event “would endanger attendees’ safety.”
The person provided weather forecasts indicating storms could feature winds up to 60 mph, along with heavy rain, hail, “intense” lightning, and a chance of tornadoes.
The screenshot showed Bryan responded with, “Are you serious.”
Bryan stated that those with tickets to the April 3 concert would receive automatic refunds, and his show set for Saturday, April 4 would proceed as scheduled.
