Fans of G Love offered support after the singer reported the massive financial loss
American musician G Love, best known as the frontman of G. Love & Special Sauce, has revealed he was scammed out of his entire £300,000 retirement fund.
The 53-year-old performer shared the shocking news on X, formerly Twitter, explaining that the loss occurred while he was attempting to set up his cryptocurrency wallet on a new computer.
Mr Love admitted to accidentally downloading a malicious version of the Ledger app from the Apple Store, which allowed hackers to bypass his security.
"All my BTC gone in an instant," he wrote, referring to the 5.9 Bitcoin he had accumulated over a decade.
The singer, who has been a staple of the music industry since the early 1990s, expressed deep frustration over the theft of his life's savings.
"I lost 5.9 BTC all I had for ten years I worked on this f--- be careful out there," he warned his followers. Based on current market evaluations, the stolen cryptocurrency is valued at approximately £300,000.
Following the incident, several fans and digital security advocates reportedly reached out to the official Ledger support team to flag the fraudulent application.
This devastating financial blow comes as G Love continues to maintain an active career, performing at various festivals and events across the United States.
Throughout his career, he has released numerous successful albums both as a solo artist and with his band, blending elements of blues, hip-hop, and rock.
While he has not provided a further update on the potential recovery of the funds, he has used the platform to highlight the ongoing dangers of sophisticated digital asset scams.
