Warner Bros. has officially scheduled The Flood, a highly anticipated sci-fi thriller from Amblin and director Zach Cregger, for release on August 11, 2028.
Cregger is set to both write and direct the feature, which is based on an original concept. In addition to this project, the studio has dated the Weapons spin-off, titled Gladys, for September 8, 2028.
While Cregger will not direct the latter, he is confirmed to produce alongside Roy Lee and co-write the script with Zach Shields.
The announcement highlights the studio's deepening investment in Cregger, following the success of his film Weapons, which earned $269M worldwide.
New Line Cinema President Richard Brener described Cregger as "the rarest of filmmakers, fluent in every genre he touches." Warner Bros.
Picture Group Co-Heads Mike De Luca and Pam Abdy echoed this sentiment, stating, "Zach is the kind of filmmaker we prize — one committed to creating unforgettable theatrical experiences."
Cregger expressed his own enthusiasm, noting that the studio teams are "true champions of bold creativity."
Further additions to the studio's slate include an Oceans prequel starring Margot Robbie and Bradley Cooper, set for June 25, 2027, and Final Destination 7, arriving on May 12, 2028.
Cregger, who debuted with the critical hit Barbarian in 2022, is also preparing to release his Resident Evil feature this coming September. These new dates solidify a robust multi-year schedule for the filmmaker and the studio.
