Meryl Streep is eyeing a return to the stage, and she may not be doing it alone.

The Oscar-winning actress revealed she has discussed a potential new project with her Only Murders in the Building co-star Martin Short, hinting at a possible collaboration following their time on the hit series.

Speaking on SiriusXM’s Andy Cohen Live, Streep shared her enthusiasm about stepping back into the theater, a space she hasn’t revisited in decades.

“Oh, I would love to,” she said when asked about returning to Broadway, adding that conversations with Short have already begun. “We were thinking that would be fun to do something together.”

While no official plans are in place, the idea builds on the strong creative rapport the pair developed on Only Murders in the Building.

Streep joined the show in 2023 as Broadway performer Loretta Durkin, the love interest of Short’s character, Oliver Putnam — a role that quickly became a fan favorite.

Short has previously praised Streep’s down-to-earth presence on set, noting her ease and generosity despite her legendary status.

He remarked that she carries none of the weight of her many accolades into her work environment, instead bringing a relaxed and collaborative energy.

Their on-screen chemistry has occasionally fueled speculation about a real-life romance, but both actors have consistently dismissed those claims, maintaining that they share a close friendship and nothing more.

Beyond her potential stage return, Streep also addressed another long-standing question: whether she would ever write a memoir. Her response was characteristically direct.

“Nope. Too boring,” she said, shutting down the idea entirely.

However, she admitted she’s an avid consumer of memoirs, particularly those by fellow icons.

When asked about Barbra Streisand’s memoir, Streep responded enthusiastically, revealing she listened to the audiobook version and praised the format.
