Amanda Seyfried has shared her profound excitement regarding her involvement in Lin-Manuel Miranda’s upcoming musical film, Octet.
Attending the Tiffany & Co. Blue Book gala on Thursday, the actress spoke with PEOPLE magazine about the project, which was officially announced by Miranda on 2 April.
Despite not knowing the specific details of the role initially, Seyfried admitted she was immediately eager to collaborate, stating, "I just knew that Lin-Manuel Miranda was making a new project and he was directing a new movie, and it was a musical, and I did meet with him... I was like, 'I don't care what it is. I'm in.'"
The film, based on the 2019 off-Broadway musical, marks Miranda’s directorial return following his success with Tick, Tick... Boom! in 2021.
The production features a distinguished ensemble cast, including Jonathan Groff, Rachel Zegler, and Sheryl Lee Ralph, who began rehearsals on 14 April.
For Seyfried, the a cappella nature of the project is particularly rewarding. "It's what I love to do," she noted.
"It's what makes me happy, and to do it for work is absolutely better than I could have ever hoped... some of the best moments of my life have just happened this week."
While Octet is currently the primary focus for the Mean Girls star, she remains a prominent figure in high-fashion and luxury circles.
This new musical endeavour further solidifies her reputation as a "born singer" within the industry.
Following the completion of the current rehearsal phase, production is expected to continue throughout the summer of 2026.
