Heidi Klum has shared the endearing reason behind her decision to frequently bring her twenty-year-old son, Henry Samuel, as her date to high-profile red-carpet events.

Speaking to PEOPLE magazine on Friday, the 52-year-old German-American supermodel explained that the arrangement began as a practical solution.

Due to her husband Tom Kaulitz’s intensive travel schedule, Klum found herself needing a companion for industry functions.

She revealed, "To be honest, because my husband has been traveling so much and I didn't want to go alone. So, Henry has been like, 'I'll come with you, mom.' And I'm like, 'This is fabulous.'"

Klum, who shares Henry with her former husband Seal, noted that attending events with her son has offered her a fresh perspective on her own career.

She admitted to seeing the industry through the lens of "someone who is really young and everything is still so exciting."

While the magnitude of a "big red carpet" remains thrilling for Klum, she noted that Henry’s first-time experiences add a new layer of enjoyment to the evening.

"I'm more appreciative that he comes with me, that he's proud to be on my side," she confessed, adding that they often spend the night "people watching" and gossiping together.

Heidi Klum is a mother of four, including Leni, whom Seal adopted, as well as Johan and Lou. While she remains a dominant force in television and business, her current focus is clearly on these meaningful family connections.
