Brenda Song reveals how son stole the show during Culkin’s re-proposal moment
The sweet family proposal quickly became a laugh-out-loud memory
Brenda Song and Macaulay Culkin had a heartfelt family moment planned for their re-proposal, but their youngest son had other ideas.
The couple’s three-year-old son, Carson, unintentionally stole the spotlight during the intimate proposal redo in August 2025, turning a romantic gesture into a hilarious memory.
Recalling the moment on Not Gonna Lie, Song shared that Culkin had carefully arranged the surprise, complete with flowers and their two sons, Dakota, five, and Carson, ready to participate.
“Mack kind of re-proposed to me and it was really sweet,” Song said, describing how she arrived home to the setup.
The plan was simple: Culkin and their children would ask Song, “Will you marry us?”—a family-centered twist on a traditional proposal.
But just as the big moment arrived, Carson veered off script.
Instead of joining in, the toddler enthusiastically shouted the family’s Los Angeles Rams chant: “Rams’ house!”
“We rehearsed and we rehearsed,” Culkin reportedly reminded him, but the unexpected outburst left the moment both derailed and unforgettable.
Despite the hiccup, the actress embraced the humor of the situation, turning the mishap into a cherished family story.
Song also shared more lighthearted parenting moments, revealing how their children react to seeing their parents on screen.
After Culkin showed them her 2006 film Wendy Wu: Homecoming Warrior, the kids were left puzzled by her on-screen martial arts skills.
“They were like, ‘Why is Mama flying across a warehouse?’” she said, joking that she now leans into the illusion.
“Now you better listen to mama,” Song quipped, “because otherwise mama will be doing flying sidekicks from across the room.”
