Emily Blunt has opened up about the emotional ending of The Devil Wears Prada 2, revealing in an interview with USA Today that the finale felt “very sweet” despite her character’s dramatic arc.

The actress, who reprises her role as Emily Charlton, reflected on the sequel’s ending, describing it as “very sweet” despite the character’s sharp and ambitious arc throughout the story.

Set years after the original film, the sequel follows Emily’s rise in the fashion world after leaving Runway magazine.

However, her departure is revealed to have been orchestrated by Miranda Priestly, played by Meryl Streep, who once doubted her potential.

Driven by revenge, Emily attempts to reclaim control by orchestrating a takeover of the iconic publication, only for her plan to unravel when Miranda and Andy Sachs, portrayed by Anne Hathaway, outmaneuver her.

The turning point comes in a quieter, more personal moment. Emily reaches out to Andy for a candid lunch, where she offers an unexpected apology and admits she always wanted to be friends.

The scene, both humorous and heartfelt, highlights a softer side of the once-cutthroat assistant.

“I loved that scene,” Blunt said, noting that Emily’s “comeuppance” is balanced by genuine remorse. She added that the relationship between Emily and Andy serves as “the other love story” in the film, rooted in forgiveness and long-overdue understanding.

Meanwhile, the film also delivers emotional closure for Nigel, played by Stanley Tucci.

After years of quiet loyalty, Nigel finally receives recognition from Miranda, who steps aside to let him lead a major fashion showcase.

Tucci described the moment as a rare display of vulnerability from Miranda, calling it an “epiphany” that acknowledges Nigel’s unwavering support.

The film’s final sequence shifts focus to a broader theme, capturing Miranda, Andy, and Nigel working late into the night as they confront an uncertain future in journalism.
