Abbie Herbert opened up about the difficult decision she made after becoming a first-time mother, asking her own mom to quit her job and help raise her growing family.

The social media star, who has built a massive online following through candid parenting and lifestyle content, revealed that the turning point came shortly after welcoming her first daughter, Poppy, in 2021.

Speaking to People about the early months of motherhood, Herbert admitted she quickly realised balancing a full-time career as a content creator alongside parenting was far more demanding than she had imagined.

The influencer explained that after exploring daycare and childcare options, she found the costs overwhelming and began considering alternative ways to manage work and family life.

That eventually led to an emotional conversation with her mother, Stacie Straughn, who was still working full-time at the time.

“I went to my mom and said, ‘Hey, Mom, would you quit your job and come work for us?’” Herbert recalled.

Although the request was not an easy one, Herbert said the arrangement ultimately made sense for their family, especially because of their close bond and shared love of spending time together.

The influencer revealed that her mother had always been a working parent while she was growing up, which also influenced the decision.

Herbert explained that while she personally enjoyed her daycare experience as a child, her mother never had the opportunity to become a stay-at-home mom.

Eventually, Stacie accepted the offer and later relocated with Herbert’s father closer to the family home so she could help care for the children more regularly.

Since then, Herbert and her husband, Josh Herbert, have expanded their family with sons Jagger and Rocky Blue alongside daughter Poppy.

The content creator credited her family’s support system for allowing her to continue pursuing her career while raising three children.

Herbert also stressed that motherhood, while deeply important to her, is not the only part of her identity.

The influencer said she hopes her children grow up seeing that women can pursue careers, travel, and personal passions without completely giving up their ambitions after becoming parents.

She added that one of the biggest lessons she has learned during postpartum life is the importance of asking for help rather than trying to manage everything alone.
