Demi Moore has weighed in on Hollywood’s growing concerns over artificial intelligence, warning the entertainment industry that resisting the technology may ultimately prove pointless.

Speaking during the launch of the 2026 Cannes Film Festival, the actress shared a blunt assessment of AI’s rapid rise, insisting the technology is already too deeply embedded to ignore.

“AI is here,” Moore said when asked whether stronger regulations should be introduced to protect the film industry from the expanding influence of artificial intelligence.

Rather than fighting against it, the Substance actress argued Hollywood should focus on learning how to work alongside the technology.

“I think the reality is that to resist – I always feel that againstness breeds againstness,” Moore explained.

The actress acknowledged concerns surrounding AI’s future impact but suggested battling the technology outright would be a losing fight.

“And so to fight it is to fight something that is a battle that we will lose,” she said.

Instead, Moore encouraged creatives to find productive ways of adapting to the rapidly changing landscape.

“So to find ways in which we can work with it, I think, is a more valuable path to take,” she added.

Despite her practical stance on AI, Moore maintained that technology could never fully replace human creativity or emotional storytelling.

According to the actress, genuine art comes from human emotion, spirit and lived experience — qualities she believes machines cannot replicate.

“The truth is there really isn’t anything to fear,” Moore said.

She continued: “Because what it can never replace is what true art comes from, which is not the physical; it comes from the soul.”

Moore further stressed that storytelling will always remain deeply connected to human expression, regardless of how advanced technology becomes.

“It comes from the spirit of each and every one of us who creates every day,” she explained, adding that AI could never truly recreate that emotional depth through purely technical means.

The actress's comments arrive as debates surrounding artificial intelligence continue to divide Hollywood, with some creatives embracing the technology while others push for stricter safeguards and protections.

This year’s Cannes Film Festival runs from May 12 through May 22, with AI remaining one of the industry’s most heavily discussed topics alongside film premieres and international productions.
