Kate Middleton shares sweet update about her children during Italy engagement
The Princess of Wales is in Italy, highlighting early childhood education and sustainability initiatives
Kate Middleton had Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis in her thoughts during her recent visit to Italy.
During her exploration of Remida, a creative recycling centre in Reggio Emilia that emphasises sustainability and early childhood education, the 44-year-old Princess of Wales shared a delightful update about her youngsters back in Britain.
As she exited the centre with Reggio Emilia’s Mayor Marco Massari, the mayor expressed gratitude for her visit to the city and welcomed her to return whenever convenient, suggesting that her children would also appreciate the place.
With a warm smile, Kate concurred, mentioning that she believed George, Charlotte, and Louis would enjoy the experience and revealed that she had been recounting her first day in Italy to them the previous night.
Prince William and Princess Kate are known to remain closely connected with their children while on royal trips, often keeping in touch via FaceTime when travelling away from home.

Massari also lauded the Princess’s contributions to early childhood, informing her that she spreads "a profound message of hope for the future."
The 44-year-old Princess is spending two days in Reggio Emilia, a northern Italian city globally acknowledged for its innovative approach to child development and education.
On May 14, Kate paid a visit to Remida, a creative recycling hub that collaborates with nearby businesses to transform surplus materials into interactive learning resources for pre-schools and educational settings.
Kate was captured on camera upon her arrival at Remida, where she was received by Eloisa di Rocco, who coordinates Research and Training at the centre, before a young girl presented her with flowers.
They engaged in a brief conversation before the royal waved to the assembled crowds and made her way inside to observe the centre’s donated resources.
The royal made a gesture of appreciation to local fashion by wearing a nude pleated dress paired with a Blazé Milano blazer and accessorised with a bracelet from the Milanese jewellery brand Atelier Molayem.
The visit showcased an essential component of the Reggio Emilia educational philosophy: fostering creativity, inquisitiveness, and a sense of environmental responsibility from an early age.
As indicated by the organisation, Remida is “an initiative focused on sustainability, creativity, and research regarding waste materials.
It champions the concept that waste, along with imperfections, conveys an ethical message, inspiring reflection and presenting itself as an educational tool, thereby deviating from being deemed unnecessary and extravagant."

At the centre, children, educators, and teachers are encouraged to regard materials “from a fresh perspective,” employing a multisensory, ecologically-aware approach that integrates larger discussions regarding sustainability and the future of education.

The Princess of Wales' solo Italian visit represents her initial overseas work journey since explaining her cancer diagnosis in 2024.
Having spent the majority of that year out of public view to concentrate on her treatment and healing, she resumed a fuller schedule of royal engagements after announcing she was in remission in early 2025. However, she has mentioned that the phase following treatment is "immensely challenging" as well.
"[This visit] constitutes an important milestone in the Princess's recovery process. She finds immense happiness in this work,” stated a royal aide. “It seems only fitting that her first global trip since her illness is centred on an issue she is dedicated to advancing in the coming decades and is something she passionately wishes to highlight."
