Megyn Kelly has launched a scathing attack on late-night television hosts Seth Meyers and Jimmy Fallon, using colourful language to air long-standing grievances against both men on her podcast.

Kelly's complaints about Seth Meyers

The remarks were made on The Megyn Kelly Show on 21 May, during a discussion prompted by the cancellation of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. Kelly turned her attention first to Meyers, voicing frustrations that dated back to her time at NBC.

"He was such an a------ when I was over at NBC, like, I couldn't stand him,"

she said, also describing him as a "jerk" and a "f****** douche."

Kelly claimed she had previously done a favour for Meyers by booking his wife on her show for a charity appearance, only to feel blindsided by what followed.

"I said, 'Sure, I'll put her on,' and then like, a couple months later, he was out there attacking me at the upfronts, where you make your pitch to advertisers."

She alleged that Meyers subsequently made derogatory jokes about her at a public industry event, and expressed her indignation at the perceived double standard:

"Literally, he was out there making jokes about what a racist I was. I'm sorry, but you're just a d*** if you do that. Who would do that? If you don't like me, or you think bad things about me, okay, no problem. We don't have to like each other. Why would you ask me to do you a favor… and I did it… and then attack me publicly?"

Kelly said she felt deeply betrayed by the episode, and concluded her remarks about Meyers with a final broadside:

"You're such a douche. You're such a f****** douche, sorry for my language."

Kelly's reaction to Jimmy Fallon

Kelly then shifted her focus to Fallon, acknowledging that he is "far less political than Meyers" but questioning whether he was attempting to "fill the shoes of Stephen Colbert."

She took particular exception to a recent segment on The Tonight Show in which Fallon performed a satirical song about Donald Trump and a legal settlement, reacting with open disdain:

"Oh my god… That should've come with a viewer warning. I was recoiling. I disapprove on every level."

Her guest, radio producer Stu Burguiere, was equally unimpressed by the clip:

"That is the worst thing I've ever seen… I'm sort of angry at you, honestly, for even showing that."

Context: the end of an era in late-night television

The discussion unfolded against the backdrop of heightened scrutiny of the late-night television landscape, following the announcement that Stephen Colbert's show would be cancelled after an 11-year run.
