Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige confirmed plans to introduce character Miles Morales into a live-action Spider-Man film following the conclusion of Sony Pictures' animated trilogy.
China’s Watching Hollywood reported that Feige outlined the future strategy for the live-action Miles Morales Spider-Man project during a recent interview. Feige explained that Marvel Studios intends to bring the fan-favourite Black alter ego into the live-action franchise once the character finishes saving the world in the animated series. The third animated instalment, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, is scheduled for release on June 18, 2027.
Feige stated that a live-action Spider-Man movie has the destiny to add Miles Morales sometime after the animated series ends. He praised Sony Pictures' animated films, noting that the popular series provides a strong foundation before the live-action transition occurs. Actor Shameik Moore continues to voice the web-slinger in the upcoming third film, which depicts Morales trapped in an alternate universe and fleeing while attempting to protect his family. The character previously debuted on the big screen in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse in 2018 and returned in 2023 for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe previously teased the character during Spider-Man: No Way Home, when actor Tom Holland's Peter Parker united with predecessors Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire. During the film, Jamie Foxx's villain character Electro remarked that a Black Spider-Man was bound to exist somewhere in the multiverse. Feige noted that global audiences were thrilled by the line because they recognised it as a potential hint pointing toward Morales.
Producer Amy Pascal is actively collaborating with Feige on upcoming developments, following her 2023 confirmation to Variety that a live-action film was in development. Feige indicated that ongoing discussions focus on shaping the next two to five films in the franchise, regardless of existing agreements or contracts. Meanwhile, Holland's Peter Parker returns for a fourth solo cinematic outing in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which premieres in cinemas on July 30.
