Marcello Hernández praises Kevin Hart after working together on '72 Hours'
The SNL star praised Hart as a 'true pro' after working alongside him in his first movie role
Marcello Hernández is sharing the unexpected lessons he learned from working alongside Kevin Hart on their new Netflix comedy 72 Hours — including a few jokes about getting older.
The Saturday Night Live comedian, 28, stars alongside Hart, 47, in the film, which follows a middle-aged executive who unexpectedly joins a chaotic three-day bachelor party with a group of younger men.
Speaking to People at the movie’s New York City premiere on July 20, Hernández jokingly revealed that Hart taught him some valuable lessons while filming.
"[Hart] taught me a lot of stuff," Hernández said. "He taught me how to deal with back pain, how to deal with sciatica, I believe is what he has."
The actor also joked that Hart gave him a new appreciation for everyday challenges.
"Also, Kevin, it’s stairs — he taught me that stairs become a challenge as you get older. So I got a new respect for stairs," he added.
Hernández joked that Hart "made me grateful for my youth" before shifting to a more serious note and praising his co-star’s professionalism.
"Just getting to see him work, he’s a true pro," Hernández said. "It was a blessing also to see him work, on a more serious note."
In 72 Hours, Hernández stars alongside fellow SNL cast members Kam Patterson and Ben Marshall, as well as Mason Gooding.
The story follows Joe, played by Hart, a struggling executive who gets added to a bachelor party group chat and decides to join the celebration in hopes of changing his life.
The film also gave Hernández the opportunity to return to his hometown of Miami, where production took place.
He told People that being close to his family while working was a meaningful experience.
"It was a lot of work, but I got to stay with my mom and I love spending time with my family," he said. "So to be close to them while I’m shooting something was a blessing."
72 Hours marks Hernández’s first movie role and also features Teyana Taylor, Zach Cherry, Mike Epps and Michael Mando. The comedy is now streaming on Netflix.
