Hannah Einbinder criticises AI Creators as 'losers': 'Not true artists'

As the final season of Hacks approaches, Hannah Einbinder shares her perspective on artificial intelligence's (AI) impact on the entertainment world.

The four-time Golden Globe nominee recently criticized those who create generative AI, labeling them as "losers" who are "trying to deprive genuine talents," while discussing the ongoing tech debate at a press event for the HBO Max series.

"These people are just losers," she proclaimed, according to SlashFilm. "They aren't artists or creative. They've always aspired to be unique, but they aren't extraordinary."

Einbinder continued, "They're attempting to steal the gifts of real creatives. But they can't. Even if they try, they won't ever be admired. You guys are terrible. No one enjoys your company. Those around you only seek influence and opportunities without regard for ethics. You're a loser, and you'll never be admired. You probably used a rolling backpack in school. I feel like giving you a swirly."

Jen Statsky, who co-developed the show alongside Paul W. Downs and Lucia Aniello, concurred that using AI to "simplify" creativity would hinder artists while benefiting executives.

"I wish I could trust it's in capable hands, but I don't," Statsky stated. "Until we implement safeguards to protect both human creativity and livelihoods, it's a concern."

The fifth season of Hacks debuts on April 9 on HBO Max, bringing together Einbinder's Ava Daniels with comedy legend Deborah Vance (Jean Smart), who aims to fill Madison Square Garden with her debut stand-up show after facing legal issues with her late-night contract.
