Khloé Kardashian regrets participating in Lamar Odom's documentary 'as a favour'
Mother of two responded to her ex's comments after she 'dedicated hours to this documentary as a favor'
Khloé Kardashian is responding to her ex-husband Lamar Odom after featuring in his latest documentary "as a kindness" to him.
Odom revisited his near-lethal 2015 overdose, where he was discovered unresponsive at a Las Vegas brothel, in Netflix's Untold: The Death & Life of Lamar Odom.
Kardashian, now 41, is part of the series, discussing her marriage to Odom and how she cared for him following his overdose, including pausing their initial divorce process to support his recovery.
Yet after the documentary aired, Odom, 46, challenged several statements made by his ex-wife, including that his father, Joe Odom, recommended against keeping the NBA player "on life support," which Lamar claims he couldn't imagine his father ever doing, and attributing his recovery to divine intervention rather than Kardashian’s assistance.
During the April 15 edition of her podcast, Khloé in Wonder Land, the mother of two responded to her ex's comments after she "dedicated hours to this documentary as a favor."
"What really bothers me is, we all agreed to do this, everything was fine. I was finished with it. I'm thinking, I'm never engaging in any more projects regarding Lamar, because I'm okay. But now Lamar is giving interviews [saying he's] upset with me. Making claims or hints that I'm not truthful, all this stuff, undermining my role, suggesting I wasn't the one who helped him," she explained, in reference to his comments on the Today show on April 6.
"I feel ridiculous," Kardashian confessed, revealing she's "annoyed that I'm included."
On her podcast, she noted that Odom and his team requested her involvement in the documentary, and she "considered" it for months before saying yes. "I was clear, 'I want this to be a positive narrative. I don't want to go down a negative path. He's endured enough.'"
"I willingly took part in the Netflix project for Lamar. I didn’t receive any payment for this. I have no personal stake in this. It’s irrelevant to me if this documentary is produced or not. Frankly, it’s not a subject I wish to revisit anymore."
"I simply recounted the story you asked me to share, but now you’re turning it against me and suggesting that I didn’t do what I actually did and implying I’m dishonest, that’s unbelievable," she remarked. "I feel manipulated."
"Does anyone think I enjoy discussing this endlessly? No, it's a harrowing experience," the Good American founder said about revisiting the marriage and Lamar's addiction for the documentary. "I wouldn’t reveal anything that wasn’t up to me to disclose. I kept it all private for 11 years, or however long it’s been. Lamar asked me to participate in this documentary. I did it for him."
From her perspective, Kardashian believes her ex "didn't foresee this response [to the doc] and now he's attempting to tarnish my reputation a bit, which irritates me."
"For many years, he praised me, all this. I don’t even need praise from you. But now you’re not going to disrespect me or trick me because you’re unhappy with the public’s reaction and response," she stated.
