Tom Hanks cheers on son Chet at Stagecoach 2026 performance

Tom Hanks is the biggest supporter of his son Chet’s music.

The legendary “Cast Away” star caught Chet’s band, Something Out West, perform at the Stagecoach Musical Festival 2026 in Indio, California this past Saturday.

In a social media video captured by festival attendee Keren Ashri, Tom is seen happily singing along to the band’s song “You Better Run” inside the Toyota Music Den.

Ashri told People that she realised she was next to the Oscar-winning star about ten minutes into the performance.

“I spotted him and honestly freaked out,” she shared. “I couldn’t believe Tom Hanks was right beside me, enjoying his son’s show.”

Ashri mentioned that when she finally “summoned the courage” to approach Tom and express her admiration, he was “extremely kind and polite” in return.

She also noted, “After the performance, some other crowd members noticed him, and he graciously posed for several photos with fans.”

The music video for Chet’s band’s track “You Better Run,” released the previous year, pays tribute to Tom’s classic 1994 film, “Forrest Gump.”

It features a scene where Chet, 35, sits on a park bench holding a box of chocolates, joined by his dad recognizing his son’s iconic attire.

Additionally, the group performs on a shrimp boat called Jenny, honoring the name of Robin Wright’s character in the film.

Chet is the son of Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson. The pair also have a son named Truman, 30, while Tom has two other children: son Colin, 48, and daughter E.A., 43, from his former marriage to Samantha Lewes.

Chet and his buddy Drew Arthur launched Something Out West.

As shared on their website, the country duo started in California as roommates, both at crucial points in their lives—each pursuing sobriety, leading to a strong friendship and creative bond.

Besides music, Chet acts, featuring in Kate Hudson’s Netflix comedy series
