Meryl Streep reveals she personally cast Lady Gaga in 'The Devil Wears Prada 2'
'The Devil Wears Prada 2' is now in theaters
Veteran actress Meryl Streep is heaping praise on an unexpected addition to The Devil Wears Prada 2, describing her experience working alongside Lady Gaga as nothing short of “divine.”
In a new interview with People, Streep, 76, reflected on sharing the screen with the global pop star, who makes a standout cameo appearance as herself in the highly anticipated sequel.
Despite a film packed with high-profile appearances, Gaga’s extended role has emerged as a highlight.
“She’s hilarious, game, and ready to improvise endlessly,” Streep said, praising Gaga’s versatility. She further described her co-star as “an amazing, amazing musician and an artist of the first caliber,” while also applauding her acting abilities.
The sequel reunites Streep with original cast members, including Anne Hathaway and Emily Blunt, with the trio appearing together at the film’s premiere in New York.
Set against the backdrop of high fashion, one of the film’s key scenes unfolds during Milan Fashion Week, where Gaga’s on-screen persona clashes with Streep’s iconic character, Miranda Priestly.
Hathaway also spoke warmly about Gaga’s presence on set, highlighting her humility despite a demanding global schedule.
“She cared so much, and there was zero attitude,” Hathaway said, noting that Gaga balanced filming while on a massive world tour.
Behind the scenes, it was Streep herself who helped bring Gaga into the project.
The Oscar-winning actress revealed she personally reached out to the singer with a direct invitation to join the film, an offer Gaga quickly accepted, even amid a tour that saw her performing in stadiums worldwide.
“I loved working with her,” Streep added, underscoring the collaborative energy Gaga brought to the production.
