Pedro Pascal reveals he felt ‘no pressure at all’ joining Star Wars franchise
'Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu' is scheduled for release in UK cinemas on May 22
Pedro Pascal says he felt “no pressure at all” joining the globally popular Star Wars franchise, crediting filmmaker Jon Favreau and the collaborative environment behind the series for making the experience enjoyable.
Speaking at a UK fan event in London for Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu, Pascal reflected on becoming part of one of the world’s most iconic entertainment franchises.
The actor, who began starring in The Mandalorian in 2018, said his lifelong love for Star Wars shaped his perspective entering the role.
“I’m a huge fan. I was born in 1975, so my childhood was shaped by going to see Star Wars movies,” Pascal said.
The actor explained that while joining a franchise with such a passionate global fanbase could feel intimidating, he never personally experienced that pressure because of the support around him.
“The pressure is something that you can put on yourself, no matter the size of what you’re getting into,” he said.
Pascal praised Favreau, who wrote, directed and produced the upcoming film adaptation, describing him as “the best of the best.”
“You’re in the best hands, and therefore you don’t feel any pressure at all,” Pascal added. “You’re just part of a huge team of people that love what they do, love what they’re making, and are all part of this big action adventure.”
The London premiere event for Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu attracted enthusiastic fans at Cineworld Leicester Square, where Pascal appeared alongside co-stars including Sigourney Weaver.
The upcoming film continues the story established in the hit Disney+ series and marks another expansion of the Star Wars universe, which began with George Lucas’s original sci-fi saga in the 1970s.
