Miley Cyrus expands family with 20-year-old rescued tortoise

Miley Cyrus has added a new and unusual member to her family, introducing a rescued Sulcata tortoise named Teru in a heartfelt social media post.

The Flowers hitmaker shared the news on Instagram Stories, posting a photo of herself with the tortoise after adopting it through animal rescue organization Wags and Walks.

“Welcome home Teru wegsandwalks,” Cyrus wrote alongside the reposted image, celebrating the tortoise’s arrival.

In the photo, Cyrus is seen feeding the 20-year-old tortoise a piece of yellow capsicum, marking a gentle moment between the singer and her new pet.

The Grammy-winning artist wore a casual all-black outfit, pairing a black shirt and trousers with matching boots and a baseball cap for the visit.

Wags and Walks shared details about Teru’s background, revealing that the Sulcata tortoise had entered the shelter system before being rescued.

“This past week, we welcomed our very first tortoise into rescue. Meet Teru, a 20-year-old Sulcata who found himself in the shelter system, something even our team had never seen before,” the organization said.

They added that the adoption came together after learning Cyrus was interested in welcoming a tortoise, leading to what they described as a “forever home” for Teru.

The new addition to Cyrus’s household comes shortly after she was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, marking a milestone week in her career.

Cyrus has been increasingly vocal about animal welfare and rescue adoption, often using her platform to support animal rights causes and nonprofit organizations.
